What does A.N.G.E.R. do? What is A.N.G.E.R.'s mission? Is there an A.N.G.E.R. chapter in my state? How can I join A.N.G.E.R.? I'm an attorney, how can I become involved? I'm a law student, how can I become involved? Are any or groups affiliated with
A.N.G.E.R.?
A.N.G.E.R. stands for Advocates for National Guardianship Ethics and Reform. It was founded by Robin C. Westmiller, J.D., the founder and former President of The National Association to Stop Guardian Abuse, which she formed in May of 2006 after she nearly lost her father, Ruby Cohen, to the Florida Guardianship system. * See "Blood Tastes Lousy With Scotch" in the books link on this site. A.N.G.E.R. was organized in February of 2008 and maintains the same goals as the original organization with many of the same members joining in a unified effort to unite all the fragmented organizations in the U.S. under one central umbrella and continue to promote a National campaign to fight for victim's rights and end the abusive guardianship nightmare. What does the A.N.G.E.R. do? We are building a nationwide base of advocates of guardianship and conservatorship reform . We provide our members with support on their individual cases, information on the guardianship process and offer non-legal advice and referrals. Members are active in monitoring media coverage so that we may respond on each issue. We support legislature and elected officials who advocate for guardianship reform. We also maintain relationships with various single-issue groups, such as the Elder Justice Coalition, in order to combine forces when necessary on an issue of mutual interest. We maintain a website, a Yahoo e-group and a discussion forum which provides information to current A.N.G.E.R. members, victims and their families and the media. What is the A.N.G.E.R.'s mission? Advocates for National Guardianship Ethics and Reform is not just another place to discuss personal horror stories of which there are too many, or offer token solace and empty promises. Our mission is to put an end to this insidious new crime by using the power of the press, the power of the political system and the power of the PEOPLE to bring this system of injustice to an end. Is there an A.N.G.E.R. chapter in my state? We have members in 33 different states and will be forming individual chapters over the next year depending on the commitment of volunteers.
